Yorktown Pet Diagnostics

Here at Yorktown Animal Hospital, our diagnostic services allow us to obtain a more comprehensive assessment of your pet’s health and medical condition. We offer complete in-house diagnostic lab testing, along with digital radiography, ECG, and other diagnostic procedures. When more specialized testing is necessary, we have access to ultrasound, MRI, and CT through our referral partners nearby.

In-House Lab Testing

We can perform a number of tests in our in-house laboratory. Because our lab is onsite, many results can be made available the same day, which means a diagnosis can be made sooner. The sooner a diagnosis is made, the sooner treatment can begin, if necessary. Some of the most common tests we perform in our in-house laboratory include:

Yorktown Pet X-rays (Radiography)

We use digital X-ray technology to safely and non-invasively examine pets internally. Compared to film X-rays, digital X-ray images are produced much faster, require no harsh chemicals, and can be easily shared via email. They’re also much clearer and can be enhanced to show detail. X-rays can reveal a number of conditions in a pet, including:

Electrocardiography (ECG)

An electrocardiogram is a heart exam that involves recording electrical pulses that are produced when the heart is beating. ECGs are simple and non-invasive, and in some cases, they can be used in combination with chest X-rays. An ECG is typically recommended if an abnormal heart beat is detected during the wellness exam.
