Pet Surgery in Yorktown

At Yorktown Animal Hospital, we offer a wide array of pet surgical services. Whether it is a dermal tumor removal or a more invasive procedure, we have the equipment and experience to handle it. As always, your pet’s safety and comfort are our main concerns. All anesthesia protocols and pain management programs are customized to the patient. For more specialized procedures, we work with a number of referral institutions to be sure your pet receives optimal care. Estimates for surgical patients are gladly provided.

Anesthesia/Pain Management

Your pet’s comfort and safety is a primary concern, whether the pain is associated with medical problems like osteoarthritis or are surgery related. Anesthesia and pain management services are tailored to the individual patient’s age, lifestyle, degree of discomfort and/or surgical procedure to be undertaken. All surgical patients undergo a pre-operative physical exam and pre-anesthetic bloodwork to allow us to choose the most appropriate anesthetic protocol.

All anesthetized patients are continually monitored by a trained, dedicated assistant using the latest devices to assess cardiovascular and respiratory parameters. A pain management program will be developed for the peri-operative, post-operative, and take home periods. Pain management programs are also recommended for our athletic and geriatric patients.

Spaying and Neutering

We recommended spaying and neutering all pets that are not to be used for breeding. This reduces the number of unwanted pets that are euthanized every year. Did you know that having your pet spayed or neutered can provide several health benefits for your pet, which can lengthen his/her lifespan? Spaying your pet can lower her risk for certain types of breast and ovarian cancers. Neutering your pet can lower his risk of testicular cancer and prostatic disease. We are happy to discuss these and other benefits with you.
