Pet Wellness & Vaccinations in Yorktown

The mission of Yorktown Animal Hospital is to help your pet live a happy, healthy life. To aid in this, we recommend preventive wellness care in the form of exams, vaccinations, and parasite prevention. Bringing your pet to the vet at least once a year allows us to make sure they’re healthy or provide treatment and/or advanced diagnostic recommendations if they’re not. We also place a strong emphasis on senior pet care, since senior pets are more at risk for certain health problems.

About the Wellness Exam

At Yorktown Animal Hospital, we customize our comprehensive wellness programs for each pet we see. We offer wellness programs for puppies/kittens, adults, and seniors. During your pet’s visit, we perform a nose-to-tail examination and can discuss vaccinations, which protect your pet from diseases and viruses. Another important part of the wellness visit is parasite prevention. We consider risk factors and past health history, and we base our care recommendations on those factors.

Your pet’s wellness visit is also a time when we encourage you to let us know about any changes you’ve noticed in your pet, including behavioral and physical changes. We can also discuss diet and other health-related topics.

Senior Care

Most pets are considered “seniors” when they reach 8 years of age. At that age, there are many new health risks to take into consideration. That’s why we recommend annual comprehensive wellness exams. These exams allow us to detect physical and behavioral changes which may indicate the onset of a variety of medical issues. Diagnostic tests are recommended based on previous clinical signs, medications, age, and lifestyle. We also use these visits to discuss age-related issues such as pain/arthritis management, behavioral changes, diets, and senior care.

Schedule your pet’s wellness exam at Yorktown Animal Hospital today, or give us a call if you have any questions. Together, we can help your four-legged friend live a long, happy, healthy life!
